MPA are currently recruiting for a Permanent Cook for our client Apex Housing, in the Derry/ Londonderry Area. This role will be based at Foyle Valley House, 21 hrs per week

Duties will include:

·         To manage and oversee the operation of the kitchen within the scheme.

·         To manage all food safety and HACCP monitoring records within the kitchen.

·         To manage and oversee the catering requirements for a minimum of 15 service users within the scheme

·         To undertake and monitor the ordering and stock control of catering supplies for the kitchen

·         To plan menus and to provide meals which reflect the nutritional and dietary needs of a minimum of 15 service users

·         To cook, prepare and present hot and cold dishes for a minimum of 15 service users

·         To fully establish effective food preparation routines.

·         To maintain the kitchen area to a high standard of hygiene that adheres to Health and Safety Regulations and Environmental Health Regulations.

·         To adhere to the above regulations whilst preparing meals.

·         To maintain Environmental Health Regulations and records pertaining to fridge/freezer, food temperatures and storage.

·         Ensure you follow workplace Health & Safety procedures and act to minimise the risk of harm in the workplace.

·         Ensure that all kitchen equipment is kept in safe working order and any faults are reported to the Catering Services Manager.

·         Undertake general kitchen duties and ensure appropriate cleaning products are utilised.

·         To effectively utilise IT when necessary

Qualification’s required:

·         NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Catering or City & Guilds 706/707 parts 1 & 2 or equivalent AND 6 months experience working as a professional cook.

   OR

·         One years’ experience or more, working as a professional cook if you do not hold the above qualification

·         Awareness of Environmental Health and Safety standards in a commercial kitchen environment.

·         Awareness of specialised nutrition and dietary needs (e.g. fortified diets, IDDSI Framework)

·         Ability to plan, prepare and oversee meals prepared for up to 40 residents with specialised dietary needs.
